Waste Management Company looking to the future
A skip hire company is looking to the future after investing in a new cutting-edge mobile waste recovery plant from Finlay Plant SW.
E. J. Shanley and Son, which has its head office in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, took delivery of a Kiverco PS122 Picking Station and a FT620 Feeder Trommel late last year after trialling the system.
The plant is already delivering significant productivity benefits, enabling the third-generation family business to process material from up to 40 skips per day.
E. J. Shanley and Son run the new Kiverco plant for eight hours a day, with a team of five operatives – one feeding material into the trommel and the other four working in the picking station.
The new plant also enables the company to move its staff from outdoors into an indoor environment.
The Kiverco plant is working at E. J. Shanley and Son’s Trowbridge site which offers skip and grab hire, waste disposal, muck away, scrap and scrap car collection as well as the purchase of ferrous and nonferrous metals.
E. J. Shanley and Son was founded by Edward Shanley in 1964.
The company has a wealth of knowledge and experience within the waste management industry and is now run by son Terry Shanley, and his children Paul, Andrew, Keelan and Cymberly all working for the business. As well as the site at Trowbridge, the company also has a site in Warminster.
Keelan Shanley is looking forward to moving into new areas with the plant.
He said: “We had it out on trial and it never left the site as we found it so much easier to go through skips and separate the material.
“It’s been so simple to learn how to use and it’s a brilliant addition to the business.
“The future is recycling, and I think we can do far more with this plant and move into processing different materials.”
Offering high-performance in a compact structure, the Kiverco FT620 Feeder Trommel boasts fast, simple and safe on-site capabilities.
Fed by a grab, the feeder trommel – which has a fully enclosed drum screen to minimise noise and dust, as well as interchangeable screen media – separates the fines from the material brought to the site in skips.
The Kiverco PS122 insulated Picking Station offers two to six bay sorting to recover stone, wood, paper, plastics and card, and is fitted with PVC windows and doors for optimum comfort, as well as the option of air conditioning.
It also includes a variable speed fan blower to remove lights from the material and an overband magnet to recover ferrous metals.
Gareth Johnson, managing director of Finlay Plant SW, said: “This is the first Kiverco system E. J. Shanley and Son has had from us and it’s been fantastic working with them.
“I’m really pleased that the Kiverco picking station and feeder trommel suit the business’s needs so well and I’m looking forward to working with them in the future.”
Finlay Hire - which along with Finlay Plant SW, is part of the Finlay Group of companies - became a licensed hire specialist for Kiverco in England and Wales last year, specifically for the Kiverco Compact Plant range.
Ideal for small and medium sized waste processing operators and mobile contractors, the range includes a feeder trommel, a picking station and density separator.
Modular components can be chosen to provide a bespoke solution for waste processors and the plant can be set up quickly and easily – without cranes – and working in just a few hours.
